Temporary exhibition of Machu Picchu pieces opened in Cusco’s Casa Concha

Casa Concha, in the department of Cusco, opened its doors Wednesday to exhibit for two weeks more than 360 archaeological pieces taken from Machu Picchu nearly a century ago for research at Yale University.

The relics are displayed in two rooms of the Casa Concha’s second floor, located at Santa Catalina street, a half block from the main square of the Imperial City.

The temporary exhibition was opened yesterday by the rector of the Universidad Nacional de San Antonio Abad del Cusco (UNSAAC), Victor Raul Aguilar, and the implementation team of the Casa Concha.

The rector of the UNSAAC said that Casa Concha is waiting for the exhibition, security, lightning and audiovisual equipments that already arrived at Callao from Yale.

In the first two hours after its opening, about 100 visitors appreciated, with great admiration, the temporary exhibition of Inca treasures.

"It is exciting to know that these pieces are back to their place of origin," said Ignacio Cloret, a Spanish tourist from Barcelona.
