Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said on Tuesday the tourists did not obtain the necessary permits for filming, according to the regulations, and urged all archaeologists and guards belonging to the ministry to periodically check archaeological sites, to monitor them, and find any abuses that may be committed by visitors.
Head of the pyramids are Mohamed Shiha, said that the two tourists were taken to the Tourism and Antiquities Police Department in Giza, to inspect their belongings, which appeared to be only personal ones, and they did not carry any archaeological samples.
The police reviewed what they have filmed, and confirmed the footage was only of the stones at the pyramids area.
Shiha added that incident has been reported, and the two tourists presented a pledge to not film without an official permit from the ministry.
