The special importance of the island of Rhodes as a gateway to the East is the theme of an exhibition to be inaugurated on Friday at the Archaeological Museum of Rhodes.
According to a culture minsitry's announcement, the wealth and the variety of the artifacts, many of them imported from the Cyprus, Syria and the Near East but mostly from eastern Greek cities, were indicative of the island's role in transferring elements of the great civilisations of the East to the Greek civilisation.
The exhibition will run until November 15.
