From the autumn, in the heart of the Espace Richelieu, the Louvre Museum in Paris invites visitors to discover medieval Cyprus.
Icons, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, art objects, architectural fragments... a total of 180 objects are on show.
Designed chronologically, between the fourth century to the conquest of Cyprus by the Turks in 1570, the exhibition describes the various stages in its history: the early Christian centuries, relations between Byzantium and the Arabs, Cyprus as a new Byzantine province, the reign of the Lusignan and Cyprus as a Venetian bastion.
The exhibition runs from 28/10/2012 to 28/01/2013
